IT’S LESLIE’S TURN TO PLAY THE BIGGEST STAGE MOTHER OF THEM ALL, MAMA ROSE, IN GYPSY AT CONNECTICUT REPERTORY THEATRE JULY 10-20

Here she is, boys. From July 10-20 at Connecticut Repertory Theatre in Storrs, CT, Leslie Uggams stars in GYPSY as Mama Rose, the most iconic female Broadway musical character of all time.

In taking on this classic and complex role, Leslie revisits the composer whose ground-breaking Broadway musical Hallelujah, Baby! launched her Tony Award-winning career – the incomparable Jule Styne. Together with a young lyricist named Stephen Sondheim and the accomplished librettist Arthur Laurents, Styne crafted a timeless musical fable featuring hit after hit song: “Some People,” “Rose’s Turn,” “Let Me Entertain You,” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.”

GYPSY is presented as the third and final offering in the 2014 Nutmeg Summer Series at Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Shows are performed in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre located on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Tickets are available online or by calling 860-486-2113. Prices range from $34 to $43. For more information visit CRT.UConn.edu.
