On Monday, Sept. 16, Leslie Uggams will receive the Café Mocha Radio “Salute Her” Legend Award honoring her decades-long career on Broadway, film, television and concert stages. The reception and awards ceremony, part of the nationwide “Step into Your Power” tour, will be held from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater, 5224 W 59th St, New York NY.
This Ninth Annual Awards program is honoring prominent black women of Broadway and New York Theatre. Other award recipients are LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Lynn Nottage, Alia Jones-Harvey, Dominique Morisseau, Dr. Indira Etwaroo, Cookie Jordan, and Linda Stewart.
Grammy-nominated recording artist and actress Deborah Cox will provide a special musical tribute, accompanied by composer, arranger and music director Joseph Joubert. Acclaimed stage and screen actress Lisa Arrindell will perform a dramatic reading honoring the beloved late Toni Morrison.
