Leslie Uggams joined a rainbow of Broadway stars on Monday, March 23, for the 20th anniversary BROADWAY BACKWARDS concert at the Gershwin Theatre in NYC. The annual concert raises money and awareness in support of Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and the LGBT Community Center of New York. This year's concert broke the previous record by raising $1,223,681.
Leslie and another Broadway legend, Bernadette Peters, closed out the show singing a duet of "No One Is Alone" from Sweeney Todd. They were backed by the Broadway Inspirational Voices, a renowned NYC choir of which Leslie's daughter, Danielle Chambers, is a longstanding member. The number proved quite moving for our current times.
